What to wear

Wear loose jogging trousers and a t-shirt .

 

Entry to and Exit from Dojo

• Place footwear neatly away so as not to obstruct the entrance

• Upon entry, lower Kendo-gu from the shoulder, bow (Ritsu Rei) to the upper section (Shomen or Kamiza) of the Dojo to show respect and appreciation

• Before exiting, bow (Ritsu Rei) to the Shomen to show respect and appreciation

 

Who's Who

Sensei - Billy Ware

Sempai - Mike Carter

Those in Blue Gi - Dan Grades

Those in White Gi - Kyu Grades

Those not in Gi but don't look lost - People on the road

Those looking lost - That will should be your fellow beginners

 

So you have arrived

Could all beginners please arrive at 19:15, as this will allow any health and safety issues to be discussed with you.

Make your self known to the Sensei and collect a shinai. Please return it at the end of the lesson.

 

When Seiza is shouted - Join in the Circle and follow everybody else.

Join in the Warm - Up.

The dojo will then split into two with the beginners at the mirror end. It will now become quite noisy as the Kendoka kiai during subari and kihon drills.

Make sure you can hear the instructor at all times.

Watch during Free Practice (Ji-Geiko).

Join in the closing reigi and return your shinai.

Make a note to return next week.
